This is for gunplay in arena but applies to EFT too, I keep getting into gun battles and losing where I will do anywhere from 300 hp to 400 hp to a person and they do 100-200 HP to me, not sure if anyone has any advice on gunplay but this has been a struggle for me.

The maps i have learned so far are
Factory pretty much 100%, i used to play the gmod port with a friend for hours, favorite 1v1 map
Ground zero like 60% since its so small
Interchange like 40-50%
And customs like 30%
Still dont know any good loot spots though, everyone talking about reliably finding high tier stuff while im just looting jackets bags and crates, any places where i can learn good loot runs that dont require insane map knowledge of huge maps like streets and woods?

You really shouldn't be sprinting, so that's a healthy fear. Moving is okay as long as you're able to distinguish enemy footsteps from yours

Start in Woods(my suggestion, start anywhere but Factory). You want to get one map down well. Don’t spread yourself thin early on. Focus on getting good enough at one map you can always go back there and make money if you need to, then go learn others.

Use these maps - they'll look cluttered at first. Hit "Hide All" on the left-hand toolbar, then scroll down and only toggle on "Extractions" and "Locations". That'll give you a pretty good look - feel free to toggle on some loot options as you go

Head into a practice mode on one of those maps, toggle on some AI scavs, and try to get a feel for the map, movement, gunplay, scav killing, etc.
When you're ready - try to scav into one of those maps and actually get some loot out.
Then you can take your PMC in and try to do some quests or loot or simply survive.
Good luck - you will die, try to have fun with it.

I like both, if you have acess to fmj ammo for the ump go for that, getting decent mp5 ammo is harder than ok ump ammo so the ump has got that advantage, but mp5 fires really fast so it can be pushed to be a leg meta gun with flesh rounds

When doing pistol runs make sure to take something like backpack, rig or armor. If you go in with just a pistol and nothing else you get "tagged and cursed" status which is a hidden mechanic made to combat doing naked pistol runs. It makes all scavs rush you and be more agressive than usual. It might be a part of why you die so much

It's possible there's a vaulting cheese to get out of there but you can also walk out near the heating pipe extract through the barbed wire and if you know where the mines are you can pretty much go around the entire map besides the dome and cliff area

I really want to love this game but having a super hard time with it. I have been trying to do the customs gold watch quest and every pmc run i do i get absolutely swarmed with enemies right on spawn and i end of killing 7 or so scavs and constantly sitting there having to heal. literally cannot move due to the swarm of fights and healing. i eventually just get overrun or a pmc comes and cleans me up since ive been fighting for my life right out of the gate. not sure what to do about it either since it happens every single pmc raid. i spawn in, head towards obj carefully then after about 2 minutes im swarmed by enemies. very interested in this game but no idea how im supposed to get anywhere when im constantly fighting, healing, or reloading my mags until another enemy runs up on me while im still doing that then the cycle repeats until im dead.

Solo is really just a grind of persistence. If you keep at it, you’ll either win eventually or get lucky and face little resistance. That aspect is not always fun, but feels rewarding when you manage to progress.

The shorter and possibly more fun path is to play with others. It makes the game a dramatically easier experience and with the right group even failing can be fun.

One trick for playing solo is either rush your quest objective if you have a close spawn and gtfo, or take it slow by looting low traffic areas and go to your quest objective late in the raid when most PMCs are near extracts or gone.

I think this most recent update made the solo new player experience harder than ever. In the past you could have a gun with 30 round mags that could kill anything early wipe with a headshot and even punch through armor with enough bullets— that ammo is now a level 25+ or so unlock. Ground Zero is also a death trap for solo new players.

I think it’s pretty understandable to not enjoy solo Tarkov and I’d wager a large portion of the playerbase doesn’t play solo at all

But i disagree that this wipe is bad for the new player experience. The lowering of the monetary/lvl barrier to using guns that can be shot decently well that was the necesity of modding before the update, made the ability of a new player to fight scavs, engage players and have a chance for lucky faceshots etc overall better than acess to better ammo was giving them in previous wipes

The play style in mind is to take in what you need to to survive and make money.

Better gear increases your chance of surviving, when learning it makes sense to lower your risk because you are brand new and don't know what's going on, when you are more proficient it makes sense to take better gear because it will let you kill stuff better, and taking food into raid is fine but there are tons of spawns in raid so you can just loot it quite literally anywhere

As soon as I've seen someone, it's two shots and it's over. So what Fletched is saying is resonating with me for where I'm at now ... avoid people at all costs.

Because your experience and gear are not there yet. Avoiding fights is probably the best move if you intend on staying alive and learning maps and getting some quests done. Once you have access to higher tiers of ammunition and armour plates, you will definitely notice a difference.
