It's literally impossible to lose any money doing this, so it just stacks up while you learn a lot
-Hipfire is exceptional, using a flashlight and hipfiring is a hugely important mechanic to start practicing. Use practice mode
-Stop running everywhere - sprinting is very loud and gives you away, it provides a lot of opportunity to ambush you. Whenever you're in high-traffic areas, be very disciplined about when you sprint.
-Have a goal in mind every raid, plan a route and try to stick roughly to it. If you notice a route failing 3 times in a row, change your route. This makes it easier to keep track of which routes actually work and which are reliably dangerous.
-Positioning is everything. In combat, frequently reposition, this is just one of the reasons map knowledge is critical and should be built and practiced ASAP. Pick your fights, don't be afraid to retreat
-Ammo is more important than guns, but you need to know how to use what ammo you have. High damage vs High penetration is a critical difference - use an ammo chart.
-Learn from every death, there's almost always a lesson, recording them and watching them back really helps improve
-Most importantly, have fun with it - don't be afraid to take a break if it's frustrating you too much.

With weapons, you need to learn about the ammo system and understand what different rounds are capable of. Then you prioritize running the best bullet you can and specific weapons fall secondary to that.

2 types of ammo in the game, fleshing - does a lot of damage but rarely does anything to armor, and Penning - goes thru armor, usually doing less damage than other rounds.

Early on your best options are:
UMP-45s (buy Knives at Fence and trade to Peacekeeper) with FMJ
Mosin from Prapor with SP BT is great if you like bolt actions,
KEDR or PPSH are both good for close-range high-damage guns you can spray legs or face with.
9mm guns like the Saiga-9 or MP5 have no recoil, they do no damage so you have to aim for the face, but they can be great laser beams
You can always go super cheap with the double-barrel. 5.25 buckshot is the best and only shotgun round worth running early on, aim at the face.

If you can find good 545 (PP, BP, BT, BS) or 762x39 (PS, PP, BP) then those are also options. AKS-74UB is unlocked after Prapors debut quest, you have no good ammo to buy for it, but it can work very nicely as a sniper if you throw a PSO scope on it, and it becomes nuts if you find some of that good 5.45

It depends what you’re being shot with. Even a PACA and steel helmet can make you into Iron Man against some player’s low tier ammos. Other players will shoot through like you’re naked.

In terms of penning armor, but also the RIP ammo at the bottom is a good ammo. The PBP breaks through armor while the RIP does nothing to armor but deals high damage to unarmored zones.

What's the best map to scav on for que time? fastest I've gotten in something so far is like 5 mins and that's still way too long

Unless you’re fragging out and surviving lots of raids you won’t hit level 20 anytime soon without tasks

So it’s not a huge issue for new players

youre supposed to gain rep for killing scavs that kill/shoot other scavs right? cuz i just killed two scavs, one of whom was surrounded by scavs theyd killed, and another who shot me first and blacked my arm and dropped my thorax to 15, but i lost .1 rep
