PMCs are players or in this case your charecter. Anything you bring into raid on your pmc is YOUR STUFF that you can lose and you can go in as much as y ou want.

A player scav (not the ai scavs) is like the pmcs except you get a random loadout and you come into the raid after about half the time as the others.
But after extracting with a scav you get a cooldown before you can go in as one again

Yeah i forgot to mention that. When extracting as a scav you keep everything except XP or skill xp. You can complete Find and transfer quests as a scav but not "main" quests like pocket watch or whatever

Pmc is like your character that uses your hard earned loot and can do quests and starts the raid at the very begining together with other pmcs

Scav is like a risk free loot character on a cooldown, you can use them only once every half hour or so, you cant do quests on them but if you survive you can transfer all items from scav inventory into your main stash. Also they spawn while the raid is already going on

More damage is self-explanatory as long as it either penetrates or hits an unarmored section (e.g. legs, arms, armpit etc)

A round with more damage but less penetration means that aiming at someones limbs will be devastating but you'll be screwed if you are shooting at armored parts

But there's a balance to it. Typically you will see people favour high damage on both ends of the scale (very low pen and very high pen) and favour penetration inbetween.

Rounds with high penetration allow you to shoot at someones chest/helmet and be ralatively sure you will kill them, thats why people consider tgem good rounds. High damage rounds are considered "bad" (i dont agree) cause you can magdump them into an enemys armor and he will be fine, to use them efectively you need to shoot at an enemys legs as they dont have armor or get lucky and hit armpit for example

I would say rule of thumb: anything with pen 0-20: Use the highest damage possible, pen 20-50 use the highest possible pen, anything above that go for highest damage again.

Depends, i usually aim for penetration above 33 until mid-late game and choose by price more than damage. But early on theres no good penetration rounds available so i often do use high damage low pen rounds but try to use thm in fast fireing smgs mostly as those guns use them most efectively example of a gun like that is the kedr from prapor 1

You should try as many guns as you can to find ones you like, early wipe i recomend semiauto shotguns like mp-153 if you get it off a scav, the pp91 kedr submachinegun or the aks74u but the ammo for it sucks ass

Just be careful going to quest spots lol. I'm running into like 6 pmcs going to the Terragroup building. Have to race to the scientist body to grab the key and shit and hide

Also you dont need the key for the scientist - you can get in the room from door 3 going on the windowsill across to the other room

you can then crouchwalk to room 4 window and break it and walk in

you still need to inspect the body - you dont need the key but that is a step to look at the body

this is helpful if you die extracting the harddrive - then next time you can skip everything go to room 3 and snag the harddrive through the window to room 4

when you loot the harddrive it wont be in your inventory dont be alarmed its just stashed in quest inventory separate

Hey guys, very fresh to tarkov, I have been doing decently for a beginner (I think) with about a 6 escapes out of 20 raids (Like 10 of which have been just random bag runs to test out the 3x3 ass space just ratting) and I have been wondering about the general progression of gear, I have been looking for loadouts for low tier traders but most are a few years old and I assume patch notes changed enough that those are faaar outdated.
