Quests

Quests, both player-given and dynamically generated, are intended to be a large part of Escape from Tarkov.
Some require you to pick stuff up for certain traders, while others require you to kill other operators or mark vehicles and specific places. Quests are the fastest way of gaining EXP. Completing one will often reward you with experience points, trader reputation, money, valuable loot, rare containers, and unlock the purchase of new items.
When a trader has a quest available, they will have a green tick on their icon.

It's not really about good vs bad, it's just knowing whether your ammo is more on the damage or the penetration side of the scale.

So if you're using penetration forward ammo - you know you can aim for head and chest.
If you're using damage forward ammo, you should be aiming for legs, face, or other exposed areas.

Lvl 55 here 3rd wipe. It’s good to know what ammo is good vs bad for many reasons. I used to look at the chart any time I ran a caliber and I would see which ammo I had/could buy, and I’d go from there. As you’ve learned I’m sure, this game is “ammo based”. I've found it helps more if you explain to new players what it means for an ammo to be "good" vs "bad" as it's not explained in game anywhere

When looking at the ammo chart, the higher then pen= good for obviously shooting armor and gear. More damage= going for flesh areas. Good example, my favorite is running p90 with r.37f. Does so much flesh damage, it’ll kill someone’s with 3 rounds to the legs

streets? very good map to learn in my opinion since all the buildings are distinguishable. common extracts are sewer river (bus leading in to the ground at the end of one of the main roads.) and collapsed crane(broken crane on the ground in the cement contruction area). these are two easiest ones to explain. but look at mapgenie . com and it will help you alot

indeed, sometimes its best to push if you hear them healing or reloading but most of the time if you get shot at your first instinct should be to get to cover and lose line of sight

when you are just starting out you should give yourself a number of pmc's that you won't fight... ie. you will fight 2 mans but not more than that until you are more comfortable with the game

There's just literally no reason to bring 10 round ADAR mags. Even if they have to wear a scav vest, it's way easier to just use an ifak.
And saying "just shoot them in the head" is a parody of bad advice given by people seriously out of touch.

im not going to assume he has a mountain of Afaks to pull from. if he uses a scav to get an adar and buys the replacement receiver from skier then he can have a brand new adar for 7k. put a 30k scope on there and he has a 40k pocket sniper with super high ergo. It's cheap, its easy to use and if he is careful with his shots it will 1 shot almost everybody. im not saying its easy to do im saying that that is the best way that i have found to do that task cheaply and efficiently. I used 10 round mags because when I was doing the task early wipe I didnt have 2000 rounds of 56A1 so i didnt want to lose 60 every time i died

Woods is harder to learn but safer.
Customs is easier to learn but more dangerous.

Use these maps - they'll look cluttered at first. Hit "Hide All" on the left-hand toolbar, then scroll down and only toggle on "Extractions" and "Locations". That'll give you a pretty good look - feel free to toggle on some loot options as you go

Head into a practice mode on one of those maps, toggle on some AI scavs, and try to get a feel for the map, movement, gunplay, scav killing, etc.
When you're ready - try to scav into one of those maps and actually get some loot out.
Then you can take your PMC in and try to do some quests or loot or simply survive.
Good luck - you will die a LOT, try to have fun with it.
