Until you get PK ll2 I usually use:
UMP is big for the price, worth another try if you didn't like it. Make sure you run it with an optic and laser.
MP-153 is excellent with flechette or magnum buck, but that only works out to 20-30 meters
AK-103 is a great budget AK that can use 762x39 PS

Yea, the UMP with FMJ can't compete head to head against end-game stuff. But, it gives you the best chance you're going to get this early.
I would lose the suppressor so the whole thing costs like 50k and then use it like a very cheap, low recoil gun that you can aim for heads with.

Specific quest items like Prapors Pocket Watch are found in specific places
