imho scavving can teach some bad habits and learning a loot run for stashes on your PMC, can be more profitable and not come with any real extra risk, especially at night and on maps where the stashes aren't near any hotspots

also if you lootrun on pmc, instead of scav, you get XP on your PMC.

which gets you closer to max traders quicker.

You might just be unlucky. You could try pulling your knife out if you're just trying to loot. I have a friend whose done 100+ scav raids and died once with that strategy.
Scavs that kill other scavs are either beginners that don't know about karma, or people that see loot they want on you, so avoid openly carrying anything too good, shove it in your bag.

Fiddle with your screen settings, try upping your gamma and vibrancy. It's mostly just a really attuned eye for the map, when you've played there dozens or hundreds of times, you just see things that are out of place

if you die after repairing both you have an objective "survive and extract from factory"
