Ok well for instance, this wipe I was on that task and in between killing my scavs I ended up fighting a few PMC's. Since I had armor I was able to secure 3 pmc kills and all my scav kills, without the armor that would be alot less likely.

Depends, I would say if you think you are able to snowball that gear into more gear then take it, if you think that you still need to learn the game a bit before losing a bunch of expensive stuff then wait or if the gear is like super expensive just sell it as you might have money issues at the start.

@rose spoke i would recomend doing 1 offline raid if it is something really good just to test it for youself, then just run it till you lose it... you got to get used to losing gear

As zefour said try an offline raid, try out the weapons and see if you like them, from my experience rfb with bad ammo is just terrible gun which what I would reccomend, sell rfb and keep rpk
