Anyone know what I'm doing wrong? Atm lvl 5, can't seem to be able to complete any task and rarely extract (even though i try to play very carefully, or just go for the nearest extraction straight away). Been using the pistol+cheap bagpack setup to make money, but like said rarely get out and therefor don't have any cash to replace the ammo or gun. Currently stuck doing raids starting with a knife and my pouch, cause even insurance is too expansive...
Every time I go into the raid, it either goes 2 ways. I kill a bunch of scav's, get decent loot, only to get headshotted instantly from nowhere while sneaking around (making as little noise i can). Other times I go in, go around the first corner and instantly get headshotted and die.. Tried to join games with others in LFG and always turns out the same way, you get killed by teammates as soon as you spawn... Any last tips or shall i just quit now? Already wasted 10h on this rubbish game..

The beginning is rough, you're gonna die constantly. Use scav runs to learn maps and get money. Offline raids are a great tool for learning maps and getting acclimated to being in raid. Getting a sherpa or just playing with experienced players is great too

First of all you shouldn't be running pistol/hatched and run for close extracts cause there is simple no point.

Use scavs to get a loadout together and use those loadouts in raid. Try to kill scavs and pick up their gear for future raids, don't be scared to play. If you're constantly hiding and running and going in with no gear, you're going to get killed easily.

Agreed, not being scared to play is the greatest piece of advice imo. The only way to get better is by doing raids. You're gonna die a lot, don't fear it, just think about why you die and think of ways you can avoid it next time. Think of what cover you can use and move between it. Sprint when you're out in the open, walk the rest of the time(there's exceptions obviously). Get used to audio and think about what people are going to when you hear them. These cases are extremely useful for stash Management especially for standard edition game owners. As a new player looking to to prepare for future quests and stash upgrades I highly recommend buying the lucky scav junk box. It can hold 3x the amount of items the box takes up in the stash

These are items used for quest turn ins, Trader barters which means you could hand over scav knifes for a neat gun or hard drives for armor.

These are required for hideout module upgrades too

This is your first wipe so don't worry too much about it. Just be aware that some of these items have very useful purposes. Once you get access to the player flea market it's a lot easier to tell that way if something is biggly needed and should be saved because they go for over 40k rub

-If you want to guarantee profit, you can always enter the cycle of scavving and offline-PMCing while your scav is on cooldown. Scavving can only make you money, you can't lose anything. Offline is great for learning maps, cache runs, and getting good at killing scavs and scav bosses. This cycle is great to simply build up lots of money while learning - which makes online PMCing far easier.
-Hipfire is exceptional, using a flashlight and hipfiring is a hugely important mechanic to start practicing. Get a good feel for it in offline mode and you'll thank yourself later. (Not great with a mosin)
-Stop running everywhere - sprinting is very loud and gives you away, it provides a lot of opportunity to ambush you. Whenever you're in high-traffic areas, be very disciplined about when you sprint. Whenever I get feedback about my advice, people say that sprinting less and hipfiring more made the biggest difference in their performance.
-Have a goal in mind every raid, plan a route and try to stick to it. If you notice a route failing 3 times in a row, change it. This makes it easier to keep oriented and focused in-raid
-Pick your fights, don't be afraid to retreat - it often gives you a better chance to hit back later.
-Only right hand peak if you have a choice. It exposes far less of you than peeking left.
-Ammo is more important than guns, but you need to know how to use what ammo you have. High damage vs High penetration is a critical difference - use an ammo chart.
-Positioning is everything. In combat, frequently reposition, this is just one of the reasons map knowledge is critical and should be built and practiced ASAP.

1. If you're playing in a team, always insure everything, as theres a really good chance that your team will be able to hide it if you die.
2. If you're using low-tier stuff, to the degree that people are almost certainly not going to take it, or that you might find gear that's equivalent or better than yours in-raid, insure your stuff. It allows you to commit "insurance-fraud", which is when you hide your insured gear in a bush - effectively guaranteeing you get it back - and wear whatever gear you found for the rest of the raid. This is CRAZY profitable early on, and comes with the added bonus of giving you an extra inventory of stuff to pull from in the form of the insurance returns - giving you much more space.

Head into a practice mode on one of those maps, toggle on some AI scavs, and try to get a feel for the map, movement, gunplay, scav killing, etc.
