Next time you buy a gun, check out the VPO-136 from Skier— it shoots the same bullets as an SKS, comes with a 30 round mag (you can only buy 10 round mags for back up) and has better stats + ability to add sights and lasers to improve hipfire accuracy

SKS 20 rounders are a bit pricey, but they do return from insurance pretty consistently

Hipfire is insane in this game. 90% of the time if I'm full-auto, I'm only hipfiring. Using a laser and getting a good feel for it in offline, just as a warmup now and again, was incredibly useful

-Money is very easy to make. If you want to guarantee profit, you can always enter the cycle of scavving and offline-PMCing. Scavving can only make you money, you can't lose anything. Offline is great for learning maps and getting good at killing scavs and scav bosses. This cycle is great to simply build up lots of money quickly while learning - which makes online PMCing far easier.
-Pick your fights, don't be afraid to retreat - it often gives you a better chance to hit back later.
-Only right hand peak if you have a choice.
-Hipfire is exceptional, get a good feel for it in offline mode and you'll thank yourself later.
-Ammo is more important than guns, but you need to know how to use what ammo you have. High damage vs High penetration is a critical difference - use an ammo chart.
-Positioning is everything. In combat, frequently reposition.
-Map knowledge is vital, learn them well - this mostly comes as you play but you can spend some time in offline to hone it quickly. Pay attention to spawns and you'll learn the high traffic areas online.
-Pay attention to your scav karma/fence rep, it's worth increasing IMO, but just know what your goal is.
-Stop hoarding things. It results in far too much time spent managing your inventory.
-Pay attention to your hideout - it's good.
-VOIP is crazy powerful, but people can sense when you're lying. Help people, they'll help you - it does pay off.
-Learn from every death, there's almost always a lesson.
-Most importantly, have fun with it - don't be afraid to take a break if it's frustrating you too much.

Rules of Scav
The moment a scav sees you, imagine a circle around you begins getting smaller - that circle is the scavs accuracy. It will place shots somewhere in that circle about 1 second after initially seeing you. You have about 3-4 seconds before the only thing in that circle is parts of you. Breaking line of sight will freeze that circle, but the scav will maintain his accuracy on that particular part of cover it saw you last. You can reset the circle, by shifting positions while in cover and re-peeking from a new angle. Therefore:

Rule 1: Always fight scavs from reliable cover. If you're surprised by a scav or want to engage with one the first priority is getting to cover. If you hear a scav, don't turn and look for it - sprint to cover, that circle is already dangerously small.

Rule 2: Peek briefly, but steady your aim. Like said previously, a scav will only start shooting about 1 second after initially seeing you, and there's a very good chance that his first shot will miss - as that circle is quite large. Many new players panic, they'll try to flick scavs or they'll spam fire at them the moment they peek. This only results in the scav getting slightly injured and repositioning, often making lots of noise in the process. A good player will peek, take their 1-2 seconds to line up a good headshot, and take it. If they miss, they'll duck behind their cover and reposition, resetting the scavs bad accuracy.

Probably because of how gear fear works, if you don't have anything to lose it causes you less stress and you are less likely to make a fatal mistake because you are more calm and don't care as much. But when you are running a hight tier kit, if you have gear fear you will be stressed, maybe panic when taking fire causing you to peak something stupid and die, or you maybe avoid combat altogether which then leads to not fighting anything or having a chance to do anything. Or you could be over confident and over estimate what your gear is capable of leading to failure
