You sat in a relatively bright part of the room while your adversary was in the darkest part of the room meaning he could clearly see you sitting there as he came around the corner while you could not see him very well which is why it look so unfair in your death and that you can barely see him.

In the future if given the exact same position. Shoot out the lights and if that is not possible relocate to a position where it is either A. already darker and where the opponent would be in the light or B. at a position where you can shoot out the lights where you are yet clearly see the opponent.
