I disagree. Though they may not sell often, they absolutely sell. If I have to wait a few days for a good offer then I am absolutely willing to wait.
Short term cash or something that's worth about 30x as much but is harder to sell? I would 100% pick the latter all day every day.
There are tons of people who play this game, not 1000 people. Stuff like rivals, rare keys are found more than you would expect. My friend group of three find rare keys worth millions, so if many many thousands play this game, I can expect rare items to be found quite frequently and extracted, though they definitely aren't 1/10 type chance of finding.

Never said you could buy everything with barter trades, you certainly can't. They don't have fixed prices, that 30x was an example, I could very well trade it for a rare quest key worth 30k to therapist, but i can also get keycards from someone who is willing to pay. People trade for labs armbands not because they serve any purpose, but because they are cool. And sure, you can get profit from using your keycards, but that's for the few people who main labs and constantly open those doors, which even then would make it hard to trade for an armband or other rare cosmetic unless they luckily find some sort of keycard behind the door or item worth a lot. Cheaters are cheaters, and no lifers are not the only people to barter for this sorta stuff.

You don't buy an armband because it earns you money, it's a cosmetic, it's made to pimp your pmc.
