its a fantastic way to get confident with your weapon in the base game. If you dont care for your K/D, mod it on purpose with stock mods to get a feel of your weapon. No need to use different ammo though, unless you want to start focusing on hitting limbs.

a typical LMG can be both an LMG and an MMG.
Doctrinally an LMG is a mobile element operated by a single person most the time. So basically any machine gun that we have in tarkov not mounted.
An MMG defines itself by being operated in a team, you have the MG1 and an MG2, one with the gun and a contact belt and the other with the rest of the ammo aswell as his own weapon.
HMGs really depend, the definition im used to has them always mounted either as a squad system carrying it around or on a vehicle.
