@fluid mantle havent encountered them yet, but afaik you can cheese them quite hard by just camping inside a small room and closing the door. cultists dont tend to push you that easily

i've encountered them once this wipe. on shoreline, near the edge of the map towards path to lighthouse. i had no nvg, so i couldnt see that well, but i know they didnt just push me after spotting me.

i got shot a couple times, went prone and survived, saw one running away, but heard nades next to me. came back after i got a quest item (at first i thought it was just a couple of nvg chads farming roubles or something, so i didnt think they were still there)

got shot from the bushes again and died, they just went prone that entire time and waited for someone else to come by

presonally, i've only fought them near crack house on customs and west wing on shoreline. west is quite easy, but the difficulty comes from getting inside the fence area, since they all guard that opening

I've ran past them, quickly. Sometimes got shot, and sometimes knifer comes for me. Best to not shoot them then if you do not want to get destroyed. Pray you got antitoxin

i mean, there's a lot of sneaky spots you can snipe them from, also lobbing grenades helps. its just that they are so split up and cover such a big area thats annoying

if ur with 2 people and at least somewhat know how to fight them, it shouldnt be too difficult
