So just to clarify. This "host fix" is totally safe. The hosts file is essentially windows saying yeah, sure this address/etc can do what it needs.
I'm assuming because of the nature of the game EFT and early access, it being its own launcher and whatnot, the hosts file doesn't recognize the address of the eft store. So it just doesn't allow it to write. This is a common thing for security reasons obviously. I'm assuming (and please tell me if I am wrong) this dev team is somewhat small and they still have server verification issues for some countries/states/etc.

I think they may have added the ability for guns to malfunction depending on the durability of the gun, although idk if it's actually in game yet... another issue could be your mouse stops giving a signal while you're holding down left click. It's happened to me before where I've had mine stop shooting out of nowhere even though I had full mags, or, I reloaded and managed to glitch the gun by canceling the reload and putting the "half full" mag back into it
my mouse atm is buggy every now and then, but with right click, it sometimes will double click if I am not careful...

If you are having issues downloading the recent update or launching the game please try the following (NOTE: none of these are official fixes and may not work, they are my own suggestions and fixes I have seen work):
1: Stop the update -> Clear cache -> Restart update (You can clear your cache by clicking on your profile in the top right of the launcher)
2: Stop the update -> Restart launcher -> Start update again
3: Follow this guide (it is not directly about this issue however, it appears to fix it for most, make sure you look at the image on the post and ensure your file looks exactly like it shows once you are done. make sure to delete the space between the 7 and the c and hit Tab
than make sure it saves on ur desktop so it doesnt save as a txt file

they have to Reinstall the game and Install freezes 0/0 than u use the hot fix... so by uninstalling it might actually cause the previous steps to work
u will know cause when u hit install ull have an 11,400 something mb update (aka 11.4gb)
