In around 2013-2017, USEC forces were contracted to protect Terragroup secrets hidden. In around 2018-2025, The Russian government formed BEAR to investigate Terragroup. The state government of Tarkov was becoming corrupt and political unrest was happening. This later turned Tarkov into a warzone and many people left the Tarkov area, except for some locals which became Scav's. After the unrest happened, many USEC and BEAR contractors evacuated from Tarkov, but you the player were left behind after failing to evacuate.

From my understanding, we have been mercenaries from the start. But we are currently stuck in a city that has been fully shut out from the outside. That’s why we end up doing jobs for our “vendors” we are practically holding out until big enough information can be spilled and given to the public or until they are buried so deep by the dead that only the executives who weren’t in tarkov at the time know them. Or the third option, Terragroup ends up completing their original objective before anyone is the wiser and unleashes whatever hell they have in store for us to lead into Russia 2035.

(Take my response with a grain of salt. I’ve been apart of the community for only a few months and am still learning a lot lol. I may have something wrong in this but this is how I’ve interpreted the lore so far.)

Ok weird question that might have already been answered: for colleagues p3, on successful completion you get 0.25 fence rep. I would assume that’s because fence and sanitar have trade deals going on but is there smth more concrete on why we get rep for that quest?

Also an assumption but I think it's because sanitar does surgery on and provides medicine to scavs, and fence is aligned with them. This next part is not confirmed I don't think so take it with a grain of salt, but sanitar likely is using some of them as test subjects for his stims. He does genuinely help some of them though so it's kind of worth the trade off in fences eyes most likely.

A bunch of those quests can be summed up as "teaching you to survive", which is good. But I mean quests like Ambulance, which is helping him get meds so he can help injured people he comes across. Or the huntsman tasks, which are "kill the evil guy who's controlling the area". Or the broadcast line, which is him wanting to find and kill whoever is responsible essentially recording and broadcasting torture

And thrifty is one of the first quests he gives you he's essentially seeing if you will help him before he helps you

Sidenote, how cool is partisan as a character

Veteran of the Soviet Afghan war turned survivalist who uses his experience going against IEDs and Booby traps to make his own when SHTF in tarkov.

His design is great. One particular detail I love is the stock on his AK having the tourniquet, which was done by soldiers in the Soviet Afghan war for both easy access and as a cheek pad because the metal stocks got hot in the desert.

He's used as a plot point for alot of things, like he makes the reduced delay F-1s, which he would have seen the mujahideen do with the F-1s supplied by the U.S.

He rediscovered the pathways we use as transits, and I think skier called him "the mushroom picker" during one of those quests, which would be his excuse for why he's looking down watching his step.

Say what you want about bsg but their map design and boss design lore wise are top notch

Nowhere in the lore does it state "my M4, if it's jamming due to quality...etc"- the scavs/raiders will not be able to fire it for it will jam. These individuals you can guess lack the average weapon cleaning kit and lube to upkeep their guns (which is why they are always under 60 durability).

They ate fighting PMCs (us) and they have a weapon that they main (picked up) and rely on to kill us. If my gun jams and has a failure to feed and I am the user of that firearm, I will know and will be accustomed to clearing it in case it occurs....unlike a PMC that has their weapons always tip top shape above 90 durability...they're scavengers dog...not minutemen milita or the Coast Guard.

I can give you an AK right after clearing a AR and I don't question your skills. You have never had an AK fail to eject and faced a locked bolt sitting home. Do you know how to clear it?

There are many instances of electronics working after the EMP as well like all the lights on at Ground Zero, various electronic gun attachments, the BTR, you even have to setup a bunch of video cameras in customs for a live stream of death and violence

It seems like just a majority of electronics were damaged. The rest probably either just shutoff momentarily, or weren't affected

The rest of the damage to things like vehicles, more lights being broken, and stuff like that could be attributed to scavs/raiders/riots

The world seems very damaged, do we know how long it's been since the EMP? It feels like it's been months just based on things like graffiti and the amount of trash piled up

I was under the impression that the Russian Federation created the zone with "loosened" regulations and tax incentives with the intent of increasing business. Terragroup, an already established company, takes advantage of this. Where the Russian Federation gave an inch, TG took miles and used the "free real estate" to further their interests literally under the state's nose.

That is very likely. Tarkov was already neck deep in the stuff before the RU launched their investigation. Blue Ice was one of many TG experiments, along with their stim and their EMP missile production. When the state was at their doorstep, TG had to pull the plug on most of their projects

The evacuation and sealing of Tarkov was not a part TG's plan, I think it just put them behind schedule.

RU investigators picked up on TG's suspicious activity while business was going as usual, but once The Ground Zero event happened, THAT's when TG started enacting their escape plan removing key personnel from the area and "liquidating" others.

Hey so with the current upcoming changes for hardcore and the map transits do you think they will add the hideout as a transitable location , my thought process is with all the teases between the ko state and the hardcore changes and models for therapist and prapor we know they want a more open world tarkov but they will do this via transitions

So if ground zero is the first place we do mission does this mean we find the hideout before we leave ground zero or after , now where is the hideout? I think it’s somewhere between reserve and streets

Given the current lore from all of tarkovs source material there is numerous bunkers much like the hideout all across the region but you of course start off with the hideout and well after the collapse of society well within tarkov , it’s not clear where the player was during much of the fall both before and after the fall of course it can be concluded your pmc did have some possible involvement in the contract wars

The player does have involvement with outside factions such as the nsa this is proven by the intel center on the computer in your hideout

The player does have some form of ties to the cult after a certain point and the player does most likely have prior military experience, the goons particularly are from various armed us forces

It’s not unlikely that the usec player was also a marine due to the wooly poly sweater commonly issued to marines , I believe bird eye was also marsoc , bears I believe are thought to come from spetnaz and kgb or similar eastern bloc organizations

I personally believe the bunker or hideout In game is little more than a bunker bought up by terragroup and reappropriated by the player character upon there story in tarkov , in the book within the tarkov series it speaks of requiring thumb drives and key cards to access many of these bunkers , much like the ones we turn into jaegar skier and therapist

It wouldn’t be unlikely we have some form of access to these types of facilities on our own as we clearly have at least one bunker under player control and labs is clearly owned by terragroup ,why is it that the labs acces keys are single use ? If I remember correctly in the book the protagonist uses a key card once or a thumb drive once to enter a facility and later it gets revealed that his access was noticed by someone else and I think possibly denied after that I believe these where higher up the chain of command usecs possibly rogues it’s not very clear

The game is called escape from tarkov , the goons don’t strike me as people who’d want to leave that type of place in fact where else would they get to live in such a way ?

Lightkeeper is supposed to be a admiral in the Russian navy

Elvira is presenting herself as a humanitarian but a lot of her tasks have an almost deliberate underlying unknown element: documents you cant understand, chemicals you don't know the composition of, the evacuation of unknown people from the area. It's a hella stretch, but I feel like her interests and Sanitar's are aligned and she too feeds information to Terragroup

It's not like how Knight straight up decapitated Jager's messenger and sent his head back in a bag, THAT is a statement.

IMO at the end of the day, despite TG ties, Sanitar is a Scav/gangster. He needs to be pressured and leveraged against to get what you need from him, like most other scav bosses in the game that need to be threatened or appeased to in order to progress in one way or another

I think that scav factions are very nuanced, I use "neutral" and "evil" very loosely and based on the tasks they give and what they get out of it. Skiier and Ref are very self interested and their tasks reflect their own wanting for a foothold in Tarkov by very illicit means. Ragman and Mechanic are more neutral in their tasks. Fence I feel has the most scav networks and thorugh what few tasks he assigns gives the average joe scav a bit more resources than aliging with a scav gang

Ref is evil imo, he runs arena with Killa and Tagilla, two confirmed psychos and has no interest in us, as the player, aside from how much he can make off of us

The Rogues don't work for Lightkeeper. Essentially you blackmail the rogues into helping Lightkeeper by killing Glukhar and planting a series false intel and TG intel to pressure them to assist when called upon

Even then that "assistance" is literally not shooting you on sight at water treatment

As far as I remember during early days of alpha or maybe even closed Alpha condensed milk was very valuable lloot (for no reason) and it sorta became a meme since. Also when it was brought up on forums or during one of the early Tarkov TVs, developers (probably Nikita or Kiba) said that condensed milk should be very valuable and it will be that way or something like that, mostly as a joke but in the end of the day a joke became a reality. My guess - condensed milk was used because at first there was not many items in game and early in-game economics testing needed 1-slot valuable item and players got used to it being a sought-out item ever since
