if class 5 and 6 aren't good enough for protecting your thorax it might not be the gear that's bottlenecking you, I recommend putting a certain amount of effort into practicing seeing people and being diligent in checking your surroundings; fights are a lot easier if you can consistently see your enemies first and have cover

anything that is 5.5 is straigh out peas because it either has bad damage or bad pen or both I recall spending ~250 ammo on sani+guards(M855, M856 + sost) and it sucks. 7.62x51 is decent enough but its extremely limited in quantity like 80 M80 is one raid of active shooting if you don't have ammo fear and shoot only when you can turn off enemy for granted. 7.62x39 lacks good platforms except for probably mutant but even it is not so good. 7.62x54 has the only gun that somehow works and don't force into looking into that abomination what iron sight is. 12.7x 55 is decent but uuhh goodbye to ergonomics, range and wight so factory is only place where it even makes sense to pull it out of the stash. TKPD is LARP and not worth it as it not gives 100% reliable torso kills.
