what did you try exactly ? switching the network file only or both machines and configuration file ?

as far as I remember, I played a bit with both menus like this :

  1. Regenerate your current vpn server file and downloading it
  2. regenerate your holo network file and check if it's still 0 bytes
  3. Switch vpn server to another one (in my case EU vip 2) and regenerate the file + downloading it
  4. regenerate holo network file and check if it's still 0 bytes
  5. switching back vpn server to your previous vpn server and regenerate file + downloading it
  6. regenerate holo network file and check if it's still 0 bytes

I did some kind of trial and error like this

Yeah, I am trying to download the VPN for Holo and it's not working.
Issues:

  • Clicking on regen, works, but then download button never stops loading = no VPN file downloaded.
  • Refreshed the page, removed cache, used a different browser (both firefox and chromium)
  • I cannot see other networks except from holo in the drop down menu of network vpn server.

Holo is a network so it runs 24/7.

You get ejected so you if you finish the room in 9 days, you'll be removed so you're not using resources.

I have done that a couple times. Also tried just downloading directly from my Kali VM instead of my windows machine and still have the same issue. I do have a support issue submitted with the admins so maybe there is some other issue going on. But I have regenerated the file at least 5 different times over the last 2-3 days.

@broken tusk - Ok so I was just able to get things working again. For me it appears it is fixed. I actually ended up leaving the room, rejoining the room which caused the network to show up in the drop down again. And then I regenerated teh VPN config file, downloaded it and now I am able to connect to the network. Hopefully going through those same steps might work for you and you can resume. πŸ™‚

In case anyone tries to do Task 24, you need to use covenant-kbx via a apt install - .NET Core 3.1 is no longer supported and won't work (I've tried for a loooong time before running across kbx). Just a helpful tip for someone else having difficulties!

Hello, I was going through the holo network and on task 22, it is instructing us to use Google colab for password cracking. Currently, Google does not allow password cracking and will flag any user that tries to do this.

Through experimentation and diligence, I did not find anything better than connecting via VPN to ping the host 1 time per minute (sometimes it responds) after checking the nmap ports and if they are open, I start working.
It's strange, of course, how this network works.

But in the end, I defeated this network and passed.
It's true that it's a very heavy network, but it's very exciting. Thanks for the hard work of the creators of the network.

i think i managed to make it work, so installing dotnet 3.1 on kali :

If you only see the version 6, you need to update paths and source your zshrc or bashrc
Add these at the end of your .*rc file

export DOTNET_ROOT=$HOME/.dotnet
export PATH=$DOTNET_ROOT:$PATH
export LD_LIBRARY_PATH=$HOME/.dotnet:$LD_LIBRARY_PATH

And then source it then check again for the sdk and you should be good to go :
