in general i think both sides need to know about the other side. knowing how hackers attack targets is useful so you know what you need to defend against. that said, this is from my own personal perspective. i dont work in cyber but im guessing at a low level blue team job you can get by without too much red team knowledge. understanding blue team tools seems to be a lot more important
for example, you dont need to know how to crack a password to know that long complex passwords are more secure
