I just completed this a few days ago. Although I'm doing Cybersecurity101 now, there is some of it which I have been doing as a free member, now I've got the Premium subscription, I can do the rest of it and complete the whole lot!! 😄

I know that isn't a certificate that means a lot, it just shows that I completed something, but it means a lot to me, and that all that matters!!

But must admit, there are two platforms which I think are totally awesome for hacking (or at least which I have used, I know there's a third, but I haven't used HTB), and they are THM and TCM.

But with THM, I'm biased because they're a British company!! Lol

thm is the best one for a beginner. you could probably use it for 6 months before even needing to look elsewhere. htb is a bit more advanced but apparently becomming a bit more beginner friendly. then theres portswigger which is web app focused. there are some others but i dont know much about them

And don't forget one that I mentioned, ie, TCM but that's more if you want to get into Bug Bounty and web app security.

Do you know much about password/hash cracking or encryption in general?

nope, can't say I do :) started a course on thm, will go back to it later (i didn't take notes the first time) now i'm on the soc lvl1 path

in thm rooms that require password cracking they recommend you use rockyou.txt. this way the room creators can set a password that is in that list. this avoids people taking too long to crack passwords. my wordlist is basically a very large list that would be used in similar situations

I remember reading an article (but hat was a long time ago) about someone who gathered passwords and emails, put them into a file and (I'm not sure if I remember this correctly) but they made it public :/ I don't want to speak of things that I can't remember, all I know that at the time I was reading the article I was thinking something like: just because you can do it doesn't mean you should
But if you want to share something I'm all ears :D you'd probably have to dumb things down

yer web app pentesting is quite a large part of ctfs so sticking with it will be beneficial. but its also good to take a break if its starting to become less fun and more of a chore. you can switch it up and start learning other areas or stick with it. as long as youre learning something it will be worth it

I've never put a watermark on a picture. I should try hands on.

Really, the move would be to add a step in your pipeline so that when you publish your walkthrough, blog, site w/e, it auto-puts the mark onto all the pictures.

I am not sure it is much? At least on defaults you will not be hosting any web servers or open ports. And most websites use HTTPS now. Hopefully windows also turns off network share folders when chosing the "Public" network option. I would need to look more.

eh well, it is what it is.. until it isn't. sometimes I enjoy my solitude, sometimes it feels like I need someone along to function properly. so i go yapping or for walks or lose myself in books or create characters and do some creative writing

I think the best thing to do in times like that is to find a good time consuming hobby, like most consist of going gym etc but me personally whenever I feel like that I think gaming is my personal favourite lots of discord servers out there with many people willing to play too!

And I tend to go on "the dark side of the moon" (letting a lot of sad feelings overflow) when I write.. it is really energy depleting and I find myself in need of an anchor.. someone to keep me grounded... so I won't go down on a despair infinite loop of sadness while writing
