Hi guys, which linux distro would you recommend for ease-of-use and to do tasks such as those with RDP in THM rooms, I installed Parrot OS, but it doesn't work very good, firefox blocks randomly, when i use the taskbar the screen filkers. In my opinion, I think you should continue with THM , since it helps you learn from "noob" level and it gives you the knowledge to start and understand many new things.
Don't use ChatGPT, it's trash now, it's sugar coting everything. I suggest to use Claude if you want to understand linux commands, or something like this, but I suggest you learn the rest by practicing in THM rooms

You will start with blue team because red has a higher skill ceiling. Defending scales well with enterprise tooling. It's entirely different ways of working, different tools, different mindset. It's at the higher levels of blue where having the attacker mindset becomes extremely valuable so red knowledge strengthens blue for sure. Vice versa I guess is also true to a degree but honestly I feel like you can get too comfortable in blue where as in red you constantly have to try harder, which is precisely what Offsec says when it comes to the oscp. This is just my opinion though so take it for what it is.

So many ways to get to so many different outcomes - i found that to be the most overwhelming part of trying to get started. THM makes that alot easier.

Ah ok, yes very much the case indeed. I have a feeling there is só much to learn, its quite overwhelming. And, i also don't really know how to tie the knots together. The OSI model, different ways of hacking in on different lvl, through ssh, telenet, sbm or whatever, just so insanely much, and just in general insanely many different things you need to learn. Programs/tools, whatever.. It's insane. But, in your honest opinion with THM, they can make it somewhat logical? The order in which you learn it, at least?

At the end we ranked them on technical capabilities (both the interviewers and us lot separately ranking them) and then did the same on their character/personality and we were generally in agreement before deciding to drop certain people from the potential candidates

Attackbox which is a vm in the browser which is used to connect to a so called victimbox using ssh. The attackbox can be your own device using the openvpn given by thm or the browser one

once in the attackbox - you connect to the machine via Remote desktop.

this doesnt always need to be done, its more of an option. you should be able to just do the room via the start machine button
