well I'll tell you this --- almost nobody starts with red team. you can be good at it, but for the most part, companies (at least in the US) want people with experience for this. most people enter that space via internal transfer or by demonstrating (actual) experience in some other professional fashion.
The most common way into this would be to enter a generic security engineering role and pivot in --- and understanding the defensive can make you a better offensive player
