They’re referring to role level sometimes with duties but seniority is typically gs related, cybersecurity just starts out at a higher gs

Historically cybersec from what some seniors have told me was a responsibility based designation, not knowledge based in the sense it was usually someone who grew and transitioned into the role. Orgs are very scared to hand the wheels to someone with just theoretical knowledge, hence they make the X amount of years requirement.

Because oscp has 20 year track record, originally seen as very technical, though these days it’s more so entry level. It gives you a taste of everything but modern industry focuses on ad exploitation in depth which cpts has as well as the report generation aspect which you could argue is soft skill but perhaps the “full pen test” experience. Currently hr filters only trust oscp because proctoring and stuff.
