Honestly you can go back to networking and note down some stuff for later as it's pretty important, try to note it down in your own words to make sure you understand it. I'd also suggest to make sure you note down all the questions and answers that were tricky for you as well as steps you took inside the attack box when you were exploring something for the first time so you have something to go back to when the topic is brought back.
I don't think learning python is less important so I'd stick with it too unless you get overwhelmed

I just did the Net Sec Challenge, but I couldn’t solve the last task. It was about scanning a machine as stealthy as possible to avoid IDS detection. I thought I should use Nmap with flags like:-D RND:5 -f -T1 --min-rate 3 -sS -F -Pn -n . Nmap completed the scan in about 1 minute, but that still wasn’t stealthy enough to pass the challenge.
Then I checked the writeup and everyone just used -sN, and I don’t understand why the IDS wouldn’t detect -sN if it detected mine.

Can someone explain it?

As Math has said -sS sends SYN packets, which combined clear ACK trigger common blocking rules - even iptables does it

On the other hand, -sN sends NULL requests - a.ka no header. This means that non-stateful security solutions will not catch up on it
