this playlist is a great learning tool for learning the science of motivation;

tldr though, if money is the only thing motivating you, I.T. is not a good option for you;

relative to what we have to learn, the money we tend to make without getting into creating a small business or other ways to create long term wealth in I.T. on top of the tech training itself is relatively low compared to other fields we could study and gain employment in with far less credentials;

that said, its also just a matter of no amount of external motivation is going to keep you doing most things long enough to be passionate about them;

at a certain point it comes down to personal values and asking if the work you do helps you gain towards what you value internally;

for me, i value I.T. for personal mastery and the sense of accomplishment i get learning and growing from building these skills;

i also gain a lot of valuable skills that allow me to achieve goals outside of work i am passionate about, which is for me more valuable than the money i make from doing I.T.;

either way, know that motivation is a complex and nuanced topic, and "lacking motivation" is completely normal especially early in our careers where anything we do feels wasted relative to the litte we get back financially early on;

said target of the "thanks" must be either specifically pinged or leaving ping on in a reply response for this to work
