If you want speed, you need a compiled language (Depending on what you do however, the speed gain may be negligible. Like if your tool take 1.3 sec instead of 1.8 sec, it does not matter, but it matter more as your tool become more complex and take more time)
If you want ease of development / fast prototyping, you want a high level language

Fortunately, nowadays, you can get high level and compiled, with language such as Crystal/Nim/Go/Zig. Good to write quick and fast tool, but if speed isn't an issue, python/ruby are your best bet

They won't really save you that much time navigating the file system. Copy and paste works just as good
