i think it's important to remind people that even though it CAN be better

there's a lot of pitfalls to assuming it Will be better

i already mentioned it but i'll mention it again, package managers are similar in this way

you can usually trust that when you type apt install some_tool you'll get what you wanted and it wont be malware or something

but it's important to know how those things actually got there, and who put them there

because it's not who you might think 90% of the time

for example, we release hashcat on github and binaries on our website, but that's it

all of the packages in all of the repos you find are packaged by... who knows
