Hey everyone, I need some advice. I have an old project where I only have the compiled .exe left — I lost all the source code. The program has a key-check system at startup (all the keys I generated were on timers, so none work anymore).

I’d like to keep using or rebuilding the program, but without the old key system since I don’t have the source anymore. I’ve been trying to explore the binary in Ghidra to understand how it works, but I’m not very experienced with reverse-engineering.

My goal isn’t to “crack” someone else’s software — this was my own project, I just want to recover my logic or rebuild it without the licensing step. Has anyone here dealt with using Ghidra (or similar tools) to recover your own lost codebase? Any pointers on how to approach this?
