You could experiment with setting up purposely vulnerable stuff like DMVA, Juice Box, GOAD etc depending on what you want to focus on. Setting it up yourself, testing and patching the vulns is a great way to learn

Yes after you installed the VM and updated it take a snapshot with your virtualisition software from the VM .

Every time it breaks or not working you can use your snapshot and back to that time that everything is working with one click.

after that, the THM site has information on how to set it up for attacking their machines, or we can help.
