Every job is different. What you learn in training is usually not used in the real world much, some of it is, the concepts yet.

But you aren't doomed, you need a starting position in tech that you can get

help desk/tech support/desktop support, then you move up, or start as a entry level systems or network admin.

You work for a few years, then your certs start to matter more

When I was 25, I was working fast food but had my own linux setup and lots of knowledge, but I coudn't get a job. So I went to this stupid tech school for 7 months to get a certificate.

but with that certificate, i got my first IT job, the next was easier
