You don't need to use debian, there's other distros that prioritise stability (parrot, Manjaro, fedora, etc.) but arch itself is VERY high maintenance for the most part and is something you want to avoid on a security device, personal devices not being used for cyber is whatever but if you plan on doing cyber work on that device, then you'll need to sacrifice the customisation for a stable system that works out of the box
