Well, typically databases like SQL for example are prone to attacks called injections. Injections work by taking advantage of certain input fields or any directly interpreted field like a login page. If you can enumerate the field by trying out different syntax or if you already know the back end database version from another form of enumeration you can craft an injection to put in the username and password field as an example to interact with the database directly.
