It's easier to check the guest settings when it's running to pull the IP from the hypervisor itself. The windows OS should create an adapter depending on the type of networking virtual device assocated with the guest network though.

Not really. It wholly depends on how the company organizes itself. Windows is extremely common for non-technical workforces because it's much easier configure with common controls, like centralized identity management.

Windows Servers have become much more common in the last 15 years, but that is not to say that it's coming close to replacing Linux in every situation.

It's more likely for Windows for HR, finance team, other non technical groups. If the company primarily uses windows servers, I would not expect the sysadmins to use Linux.

For my last 3 employers, employees had the option to choose, and many (most at the last 2 places) used Linux as their primary daily driver on their laptops.
It's more common for specific use cases; my team uses a mixture of linux, mac, and windows laptops for their tasking, and that's feasible because our servers are all linux-based. Only 3 of us need administrator access for our tools, everyone else can use web consoles.
