Not quite. A "for" loop is another kind of loop, just like a "while" loop.
It’s not the same as break, but you can use break inside a for loop to stop it early.

A for loop says: “Do this thing a specific number of times (or go through each item in a list).”

A break says: “Stop looping right now — I’m done, even if the loop isn’t done yet.”

If you already know how to connect to a VPN and SSH, etc. from your kali machine then its not worth the headache. If you dont really understand how it works, I would say run it off a VM and connect with openvpn

Maybe for learning as you are not technically learning if your are getting AI to answer questions, it's more beneficial to use AI for when you get stuck on a project and need to double check something or debug code that you have written etc. Repetition leads to learning

notably all this is being typed on an iPad with Logitech keyboard case lol, so I do have a reason to have issues with these things

Even with that, if this is a challenge your friend is giving you to help you learn just touch base with them. There are resources on the internet like THM which can help further your knowledge, but yeah this is not something we can assist with just because who knows

but dont have much knowledge on linux 64bit buffer overflows (especially the new mitigations)

The “Malware Analysis” bit at the end of SOC Level 2 in the learning paths has a good bit of what you need to get started with this task but even that requires a lot of knowledge pre-requisites to get that far

I guess if you have the source it’s less about reversing but yeah I’d just go back to what I said and just touch base with your friend for clarificaiton and assistance

Honestly I don’t think you’ll need that, the teaching rooms are designed to show you what you need to learn. But even then, a vast majority of rooms have official walkthrough links in them

I’d recommend to continue learning the basics anyways as they will be far more relevant a vast majority of the time to anything you’ll encounter realistically. This is still early days, and if you have those basics under your belt, then you probably have the tools to find the resources you want yourself

Just please remember that outside of authorized challenges like the few we have, spin up your own LLMs if you want to do testing. A majority of services prohibit such actions in their TOS and more

I understand how you think, of course I continue to learn and develop skills for fat normal, that it is in the early stages of LLM hacking/ so honesty makes it absolutely right to build up your skills now and not start doing it when it is already "too late". well, of course I have my own lab on my server that is only for testing and learning about this, it is very interesting what you can actually get for example a customer service chat to do and reveal with relatively simple injections. The "game" Gandalf that I mentioned is quite educational, it was created specifically for this purpose and has different levels, they increase in difficulty for each level. I am convinced that if you have good knowledge of how these attacks work and above all how to protect yourself against them, you get a good advantage and a head start, of course in combination with traditional security.
