Does CORS actually do anything?
Lets say I have a website with an API and a fairly strict CORS policy.
And another entity wants to do some legitimate development with said API - but instead of building a desktop app or using python or something like that - they're going to build a webpage and do the calls right on the webpage through javascript, except the CORS policy would block them from doing that. But, if they just used python or the like for the exact same calls - not a problem for some reason.
Why the heck does CORS even exist and - if they can just make the same calls not through a browser, couldn't we just turn it off altogether?
