I started off like this and everything was overwhelming at the start but you just keep on going and it all starts making sense. I sometime revisit the basics to bolster my understanding, that helps a lot. Sometimes it's best to learn a topic and delve into it more and more to get a deeper understanding instead of cramming all sorts of topics in. Breaking the methodology into the stages of pentesting also helps as you have a higher level view and then the tools and techniques fall into place after if that makes sense
