You would be surprised how many hiring managers (at least in the UK) only know sec+ and CEH and have never heard of BTL1 and the other certs. I would assume its just because these have been around for many many years. Same goes with the offensive side its mainly OSCP and CREST (in the UK) because its been around longer despite PNPT being a more realistic cert with no flags to capture but simulates a realistic environment.

I am hoping this will change in the future and certs like CEH do not appear in job postings anymore

OSCP is too expensive at this point for an individual to pay for themselves. Getting certifications without prior professional experience is also not really recommended, of course that's not always true, as certifications are used to quantify said experience.
