I'm sad about my big plans for return to THM.
I made a QubesOS install; and a Kali Qube.
Then I passed through my dGPU to the Kali Qube to get accelerated hash cracking.
Only to find out, that even without fighting to get GPU passthrough working, on my direct install, I don't have GPU accel working on my hashcat.

So I need to spend time debugging that.
Qubes was my plan to entice myself to play around more.
It worked for a week 😄

Yeah, Windows is more interesting when you are doing rooms around DFIR, digging into stuff with Loki and YARA.
Finding persistence mechanisms that only reveal themselves deep in WMI, without leaving traces attached to the usual registry/file locations.

When I was doing contracting network deployments and IT clients.
I would go in with pen and note paper to a prospect client, and write and draw their physical layout maps of the network switching environment, and then a page for logical network env, and then overlay drawings for the VLANs.
Graph paper notebooks are the bomb, thanks for that Adam Savage.

A few hours on site, I'd have a full map of the floor plan, digital assets, networking designs, etc.
Then I'd sit down and work out project rates.

Some of those notes are still partially visible in my head.

I've had exactly 1 client, since 2010, who had a well documented network design, backup strategy, etc.
I came out of that assessment saying. "Look, I'd love your business, but I'd be doing you a disservice."

3 years later I was working for the company that supported that network 😄

Mine has been out of commission for a bit because I messed up my linux install on it, but for the 12 months I was daily driving it, was great.

And getting it up and running again is actually very easy.
Just flash an SD card w/ a compatible OS and slot it in.

Which I picked up a sizeable A2 class SD card recently to do 🙂

I'd have to reflash the eMMC chip to do it without the SD card, which is also possible, but less versatile.
