I make a folder of the target i want to hack, i create a notes.md file, I put a few checks like this:

- [ ] tcp scan
- [ ] udp scan
- [ ] ping and check ttl

As i go i copy paste the command i typed and the output (the output sometimes i dont paste it if i saved it to another file)

As i discover attack surface i make a section for it, for example, lets say i found out the machine has an FTP server, i would do something like this:

- [ ] check anonymous login
- [ ] check if this FTP server has any CVEs
- [ ] try to reuse passwords if you come across some
- [ ] can you enumerate usernames off the login?
   - [ ] password spray
