Yeah I've tried hard multiple times to learn Japanese, and I do know quite a bit for a beginner including how grammar works and all the kana, but yeah hard to stick with it

It’s a bit cyclical actually, you won’t learn a language properly without understanding cultural nuances as well

Plus while you're listening to subed anime, being able to pick up on the dialog and understand it vs what the subtitles say can be quite neat. You can actually pick out, "oh that wasn't translated quite directly"

Culture produces comedy. This is studied looking at languages that are found over the globe. Like English in Uk, aus, USA. And spanish being quite location diverse. Many jokes and comedy do not translate between the cultures of those places
