After you've downloaded the Exiftool distribution - the one specific to perl - you need to extract the Exiftool files since they're in a zipped tar file by default.

After you've done that, you rename the exiftool file to exiftool.pl that's in the exiftool distribution

Then you move the exiftool.pl and the lib directory from the exiftool distribution to any directory in your PATH
