Here is the thing if you are planning on showcasing, and utilizing your ability to code/script for a position you are going for and are coming in fresh, yes they will want to see examples and a github page is great.

I don't know many places that when looking for somone jr, or for an internship in cybersecurity are going to be careing or busting your chops for one though

especially if you don't bring it up

now there are some specific types of positions that require it

don't get me wrong but in general you likely won't need it, still do it though, to get yourself in the habbit of it.

and to build out a nice portfolio you can lean on if you need to

Yeah, that's what I was thinking, I think, I'll continue to build a good portfolio to show the companies, more likely to use pivoting like I was planning on doing DevOps first, then Cloud engineering or DevSecOps (I don't know if DevOps or this is the same thing, likely not imo), after some experience and certs, a proper step i.e. SOC or something as offensive requires higher experience

So devops is great, do yourself a favor and get a deep understanding of both on prem tech and networking

DevOps is going to be rough without some good foundational skills, and cloud is rough if you start cloud and don't understand on-prem tech

a ton of places are hybrid and you will def need to understand networking

don't have to get too deep into on-prem tech but the more the better for you, but networking is 100% going to make or break you as a good cloud engineer

CCNA is going to be way more heavy specifically on switching, and its been a while so maybe they don't do routing anymore but they used to and it will be on cisco devices using cisco ios

I collaborate with guy who wrote linux XR drivers and breezy desktop and he not recommend these bc of closed SDK that they're not willing to share so for them there's a reversed engineered SDK that not quite good.
