I use something called obsidian. How I've set things up right now is that I have defined "Topics" for certain concepts like OSI or OSINT or the Cyber Kill Chain and then I have subfolders and notes that branch off of each step of the process in those things so information that applies to a particular topic is easily accessible.

It's worth being consistent. :) There are some good incentives, and after a while you establish a routine and that has benefits of its own.
