CTFs are both harder and simpler that a real pentest. In a real pentest, you'll likely have a set-menu of things you are going to try, you generally have to be non-destructive, and as quiet as you can. Also, there may not be anything to find. CTFs you can try anything, be noisy and you keep going because, as is it's nature, there IS something to find.

If you applied capture filter during packet capture and it excluded FTP traffic it won't show up, remove them and use display filters, you should see three way TCP handshake as SYN and SYN-ACK

Hi all, I have a task to build a custom benchmark for our own environment. This means I will look into the CIS benchmark and review the rules and remove the ones that are not applicable to our environments e.g CIS recommend password length to be at least 14 but our environments makes use of 10 for example.

Have you searched it up? usually its something to do with the.. auxilliary bud (i.e the one that doesnt connect direct to your device) not syncing with the main bud.
