each platform has their own ways of teaching, with HTB you have academy, with the regular platform you have the boxes, less guided and less handholding

depends on your learning style, approach, familiarity and etc

Give it a go, see which one you like and stick to that one, or both if you can afford and that's kinda it 🤷

HTB has 4 different product offerings and the one that is most similar to THM is called HTB Academy. It has lessons and then challenges but those lessons are more like "Here are 10 wiki-like documents for you to read" which take an hour or more to read through. Then you have a challenge to solve with only a few questions about it (less guided). For this reason I consider HTB academy to be less guided and targeted to an intermediate to advanced skill level whereas THM is beginner to intermediate and guided at every step. THM has more defense focused content than HTB but HTB has more offense focused content. In terms of volume of training content, HTB has more. I recommend starting with THM until you've exhausted your interest/learning and then moving on to HTB if you want more.

I switched to Logseq for a while since open source and less geopolitical baggage, but everything is a bullet point which is a benefit and a curse. The best thing I can say is that for work having a daily “Journal” page which you can use for today’s notes specifically is 10/10 useful… but you can get the same with Obsidian plugins.

I have been considering switching back, we shall see

for work and work note taking, the logical nested bulletpoint style is 10/10 useful, but it’s less useful for long form notes. But I will also caution that taking super long form notes is a hazard, as you can accidently get a bit too “Wikipedia” in your note taking if you’re not careful.

Ideally you need to only note take as much as will actually remind you of the topic.. for sure not paragraphs of text which I was guilty of

Everyone’s note taking style is different, but yeah don’t be like me and go overboard with “Wikipedia” like articles. That’s a sure fire way to make note taking untenable

Mhmm I almost went knee jerk after my “wikipedia” like disaster with Obsidian and choose Logseq where it’s literally difficult to do to the same thing. But really the winning feature for Logseq besides the database and bullet point heieracy, is just those daily journal notes.

Every day you just get a new markdown note for that day at work, again trivial to do with an Obsidian plugin, but this program opened my eyes in that this is the work flow I need critically for work. Then from your daily Journal entires you link back out to your longer term notes

so for my Journal 2024-12-01.md I’d be be able to link a 2024-12-01 - Staff Meeting.md note I’d reference much more often, with only daily tasks and drafts in my Journal entry

It really depends on how your environment is currently set up, what machines, OS's you run, how you want to handle alarms, an EDR is nothing worth if you don't have any to react on what it's announcing, or do you want something fully automatic with possibly a lot of benign announcements
