Yeah and fair maybe some of those horrors are why that impression was left on me. I just never hard much of a reason to test WSL2 that hard when I have perfectly good Linux based pentesting systems elsewhere. Always thought it was a bit of a half measure in terms of infosec tooling anyways

my worst issue with WSL was picking a linux flavor that ran on the oldest glibc runtime possible. needed to develop for QNAP NAS and somehow none of the runtimes available for it ran on WSL, which turned into a cross compiling nightmare
