I feel like that's true. you can certainly start with blue get a certification (not all companies care about certificates) and get a job as SOC if you need a job real bad right now. As you're working, spend your free time on learning red and after 1-2 years you can change paths.

If having a job can wait, I recommend putting in some time (5-6 months) learning the basics of offensive security and get a Security+ and Pentest+ certification and start working on what you like instead of being miserable for two years working as a SOC
