After doing my research i found out the culprit is Xorg, a program that registers your mouse movement, moving my mouse rapidly across the screen skyrockets the VM's CPU usage and eventually causes a permanent laggy experience which renders me unable to do my work

Imposter syndrome is definitely a thing, it's about how you mitigate it. Look back a couple of months, identify things that you've improved on since then. Write those same things down, or identify other tasks/skills, and review them in a few months time. You'll see that you're improving and be able to quell the negative part of your brain
