The password is ||secret||, but I couldn't figure out the flag. It's ||encrypted||, and there's a function ||encrypt_flag||. Did throw it up into Ghidra, but got nothing. Just a bunch of non-printable characters, even with a bit of brute-forcing for + and ^ offsets :')

I am not sure what is going on with the attack machine, or kali or vpn. I know the machine that you start, the little green box in the top right, that is the machine that you are attacking. I have not used the kali box or the vpn though. Are they different in anyway? Should I be using either of them? With the vpn I had to download something and it seemed a bit much considering I could just crack on with the attack box?

Some rooms come with attackbox (green button) in for certain tasks or the whole room. It may come with the files (wordlists) tools or anything else needed to complete those tasks in specific, whilst in Kali VM, you might need to download those tools, or create those wordlists yourself, although some rooms offer the wordlist github if that's the case. At least from my experience.

As for the open-vpn, it's easy, there's a room for that, but yeah, if you're just starting with all this cybersec, I'd say, just do it when you feel like exploring a bit more, since it might take some time in reading, and all that.

When you click start machine, it usually opens the AttackBox automatically.
If not, then you should seek for the view split screen button or something like that, which is at the top of the web-page.

Specifically at the arrow (drop-down button) of the Start AttackBox option is at.
