@blazing granite I took it in 2001 and it was 140minutes

blazing granite
rapid merlin
#

they changed some things with the new exam

blazing granite
#

To earn your CCNA certification, you must pass the 200-301 CCNA exam. This 120-minute exam tests

rapid merlin
#

I don't have a question count on my report though, but I'm sure it was around 100 and something

blazing granite
#

from the the cisco website

rapid merlin
#

they updated the exam at the end of last year, you were saying that it used to be 60 questions in 90 minutes, I'm just saying it wasn't

jagged otter
#

what os is everyone running?

blazing granite
#

200-301 CCNA v1.1 goes online on 19th August 2024

rapid merlin
#

I did the v1.0

jagged otter
#

yeah i could go into ccna but i don't want to work networking

rapid merlin
#

CCNA is useful for all IT @jagged otter it's a really good course to do

jagged otter
blazing granite
jagged otter
#

CCNA is almost as boring as A+

#

but i understand what you're saying

rapid merlin
#

I think time is a limited resource, if you have no computing/tech knowledge then I think A+ is brilliant. I don't think getting the A+ to tick a box is a good thing, better to study something that pushes you

@coarse moth GNS3 is really good for network sims

jagged otter

I know, ill be taking classes like advanced networking but I really don't want to work in networking

jagged otter

network security design, computer forensics things like that

blazing granite
jagged otter
#

oh i'll train in it for sure

#

im open to all of it

#

i did some ccna stuff in labs

rapid merlin
#

@jagged otter juniper run a CCNA equivalent course and if you finish their course material and pass the exam voucher test you get 75% off the exam

jagged otter
#

using switches, routers

rapid merlin
#

makes it a lot cheaper

jagged otter
#

also they get you in an internship

#

that might lead to a job

#

hell i dunno

rapid merlin
#

would you recommend cpts over say pnpt?

#

since they have the same price

#

okey blobheart

#

i just found out HTB is primarily based in greece (headquarters in UK) and I'm from greece so I think HR will know it

I didn't know it kekw

blazing granite
rapid merlin

who can do a little check for me? isnt it intended that with the "download task files" button it should download files? Not open an image in your browser lol

jagged otter
#

oh so (left for unrated words) then

rapid merlin
#

Else i'll report it in room bugs

sand trench
#

well the file for that room is an image

#

sooo probably partly intended

rapid merlin
#

Yeah but I think it shouldn't open in the browser

#

But download download

#

xd

sand trench
#

anyways shadow is gonna abort game time and go sleep to hopefully clear the nasty headache that denied shadows game time

rapid merlin
#

@blazing granite they're really good. We've just moved to juniper FW, the rest of our setup is cisco with a small mix of other vendors. So we've all been getting up to speed with juniper. The documentation and learning materials are really good, and they are a solid company.

sand trench
#

so meep moop to the beep boop for the sleep sloop

rapid merlin
#

Sleep well :)

jagged otter
#

i might go in class and sit by the most miss thang and rip one and look at her funny and move to another desk

#

say "all you had to do is ask me to move, that was uncalled for

#

sometimes i just need to do things like that to break the mundane

#

this is the desciption of the 1st ccna class This course introduces the architecture, structure, functions, components, and models of the Internet and computer networks. The principles of IP addressing and fundamentals of Ethernet concepts, media, and operations are introduced to provide a foundation for the curriculum. By the end of the course, you will be able to build simple LANS, perform basic configurations for routers and switches, and implement IP addressing schemes. This class will help prepare students for the the CCNA exam, it is the first of a three part series.

rapid merlin
#

I've noticed in the UK universities are doing this @jagged otter , they'll use the CCNA material for learning, but you don't get the CCNA from it

jagged otter
#

yeah

rapid merlin
#

you'd think that you'd also get the exam out of it

jagged otter
#

as much as it cost, yeah

#

mine isn't free

rapid merlin
#

I think it's Β£10,000/yr for tuition now, so you'd expect to get the exam as well

jagged otter
#

the exam and with someone giving you a back massage

#

it's all good.

blazing granite
#

the exam itself cost 300 USD

jagged otter
#

that's not much at all

#

i spent that much at a restaurant

gritty fern
#

Expensive ass restaurant

jagged otter
#

yup some cajun restaurants are

rapid merlin
#

@blazing granite I think if you're using CCNA syllabus, that's already saving the university from having to create it's own. That saving should be passed on to the student in the exam fee. Plus for institutions that buy vouchers in bulk they're discounted

Recall got recalled

blazing granite

recall was probably one of the worst microsoft ideas, and a huge security risk

watched john hammond's vid on that

rapid merlin

I moved from a Linux engineer, to a network engineer. So my windows-fu has always been weak. But it seems I wasn't missing much

blazing granite
rapid merlin

AD has been kicking my bum to learn, it's always been one of them things I knew about but had a windows admin to deal with @blazing granite

pearl raven
#

No, it's really not, you can learn a good chunk of it with some VM's at home. Where it gets to be a pain is GPO, depending on your companies policies of course...

blazing granite

they mix azure nowadays to revamp ad πŸ˜‚

pearl raven

lol

rapid merlin

I got an offer to do my eCPPT for Β£100, so I thought why not. This has brought me down the security path. This is more of a fun thing. It's turning it more of a time sink than I thought

Hey guys. I have a general question about hacking. Is there such thing as "Too Much Enumeration?"

Do you guys think that if I am enumerating my target for days before I start attacking the vectors I found -- is that too long?

Because I am in my earling box-doing stages, and I want to enumerate absolutely everything, and organize everything into my notes. Perhaps after many boxes, I will be able to further understand what I dont have to spend time enumerating...

What do u think?

sorry to bother again I have one last question if you don't mind, should I do the courses from TCM (I can complete all of them in one month subscription) even though I'm going after the HTB certs (I saw they have one for advanced web attack I want that too)

THM and HTB seem the best learning content for security

which one is that?

pearl raven

I can say that TCM's content is good, but I hate learning by watching, I prefer to learn by doing.

I haven't tried any of their newer stuff yet, so I can't comment on that.

I don't see a reason to log into any account on my vm when I can log into it on my host

not often though

you mean vpn to a vpn provider then vpn again on kali?

both my PCR's & the o ther ones where always -

#

yes

#

i had to get PCR's very regularly

#

i travelled alot, and to enter alot of countries you need a PCR with 24-48hr's

rapid merlin
#

Covid was an over blown drama

hot cairn
#

and PCR + quarantine on arrival

tired peak
hot cairn
#

it would've been worse if we did nothing lol

tired peak
#

in the US, Covid has finally dropped from the top leading cause of death to #10 now

hot cairn
#

i hated taking them

rapid merlin
#

@tired peak alot of ppl die to flu each year

tired peak
hot cairn
#

though some places did PCR in the throat and i much prefer that

#

then the nose

tired peak
#

but the flu is still not a top 10 cause of death

candid light
#

yeah, the nose test sucks

#

goes too far up

hot cairn
#

did a covid test today and it still sucks just like always

candid light
#

i can still feel the feeling

hot cairn
#

idk how i didnt catch it though

rapid merlin
#

@tired peak a vaccince that has been under huge scrutiny, not cooked up in a few months

tired peak
#

I had long covid, it absolutely sucked, basically 18 months to recover

blazing granite
# candid light i hear the disney one is really good

I never did that one, I was at Disney in a hotel inside the compound, it was the contemporary resort, the one that the Disney train (the one that take you to the parks) gets actually inside the hotel πŸ™‚

i mean, back in the start of the pandemic when i lived with family - they caught it

hot cairn

herd theory

#

I've already had tons of genetic testing 🀷

rapid merlin
#

@tired peak that's not how vaccines work, they protect your immune system not the person next to you

tired peak
#

also a huge reason for vaccines in general is that it helps prevent the spread to those who cannot be vaccinated, so individuals can get it and be fine but that isn't the point. Also viruses mutate so the more people that get a virus, the bigger chance it can mutate into something, much much worse

blazing granite
hot cairn
#

eh, c'est la vie

tired peak
rapid merlin
#

herd immunity is that we all get sick

other than that no reason to go to disney theme parks if you don't like any of the theming
