Server to server communication is just one server acting as a client. Think of a script trying to invoke an API.

If Server A (HTTPS) connects to Server B (HTTP), the protocol will be HTTP since thats what Server B uses. In that scenario, Server A is just a client trying to connect to Server B.

To establish a secure connection, Server B would require HTTPS. The exchanging of keys in this case is ephemeral (https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ephemeral_key).

IIRC, AWS has the AWS Certificate Manager (ACM) where you can upload your certificates.

lol so it was a pi chip, i forget which one, but they were donated for the badges... there's a bunch of drama going on with the badge makers and defcon, some god escorted out, etc.

it's a whole thing playing out where now the badge makers are saying they discounted everything to come in under budget and got totally screwed.... they're saying they're prepared to present all of the paper trail and want defcon folks to release hashes for all the invoices to prove nothing was tampered with
